Guest Bathroom - Anthropologie Style

Another room is pretty much complete other than some little knick knacks here and there!

But before any of the decorating could take place, there were several things that needed to occur:
  • Counter tops were replaced with granite
  • Cabinets were painted white
  • Brushed bronze faucet and new sink installed
  • Yellowish paint replaced with khaki color
  • Old ugly square mirror replaced with beautiful brushed bronze oval mirror
  • Ugly gold lights replaced with beautiful brushed bronze light
  • Horrific sliding gold shower doors taken out. I removed these bad boys myself, but I haven’t gotten around to taken out the frame yet. I figure as long as I can cover it up with a pretty shower curtain, I can buy myself a little bit more time.

Since having completed all the cosmetic stuff, I have been having loads of fun picking up little pieces of bathroom décor here and there to complete my anthropologie inspired look.

The first piece that I picked up was this beautiful shower curtain. I knew I wanted something with lots of colors so that I could pull in all different textures/colors into this room.

Next, I knew that I wanted to pull the green and blue colors out of the shower curtain and incorporate them in the bathroom. ( ie. Towels, round bath mat and hand towels) You can slightly see the green ones in the picture above.

Once I officially decided on my main color palette then I got to work on all the little details. One of my favorite things that I did was choose three different bathroom knobs and drilled them into the cabinets.(one is blue/white, one is green white polka dot, and the other one is a light red) I think this helps add a little punch of fun to this room. I also got some items for the counter and back of the toilet, as well as hung one of my favorite bird pictures. (Wanna know a random fact: I have some sort of bird in every room in my house!)

I definitely have several more things that I need to purchase for this room.
  • If you look at the first picture, on the back wall, above the shower curtain; I’m going to stencil “Relax, Refresh, Renew” in big scripted letters.
  • I need to find something else for the back of the toilet
  • I need something above the towel rack. I also might switch the bird picture to above the towel rack. I haven’t officially decided yet.

I think that covers everything. I know the bathroom isn't too exciting but I do love the feeling of having completed another room!

Guest Room Yellow/White Stripes

I have finally completed decorating our guest bedroom and I couldn't be any more excited with the way it turned out. (I’m squealing with excitement over here!!!)

I knew from the moment that we moved into the house,  my plan was to paint horizontal white stripes in the guest room. The only thing that I wasn’t aware of was how much of a pain in the ASS it was going to be to get said stripes done!

Walls measured and taped off. This process took 2 hrs. per wall. Total of 4 walls.

The small pieces of tape in between each line indicate what color that particular line should be. This helped me so I wouldn't get confused and mess up!

All the walls are taped off!

Now the paint goes on! In order for the paint to not run through the tape, you have paint a line and then rip of that piece of tape. It took me a total of 6 hours to paint the room.

Paint all done! I love the way my stripes turned out!

Curtains are up!

Headboard is up!

 ..and my pictures are hung!

The only thing left to do now is the minor decorations. So glad another room is done!

Past 90 Days

I know it's been almost 3 months since I've last blogged and there are a million individual post I could write, but I wont. Instead, here are a few tidbits of whats occurred over the past 90 days.

We both FINALLY got new glasses. I don't think either of us have had new glasses since college!

Christmas Eve we had M's family over to our house. M got one of his grandfathers rifles that he has been wanting for a very long time. Such a special moment for him.

Christmas day we spent with my family at my parents house. Lots of time was spent with these precious little kiddos that were in town.

New Years Eve. M worked and I was laid up in bed sick. Nothing special for us this year!

We took my parents to the Mavs game. ha ha - M being a goof.

I painted a rug. Love how the Chevron print turned out.

I had some of my girlfriends over for a blind wine tasting party. Can't wait to have another one in the Spring, were we sample all white wines.

I finally hung some curtains in our breakfast nook. House decorations are finally in progress now that all the holidays are over with! (..and the chandelier has been centered over the table now!)

Finally decorated the foyer...

Had our first Super Bowl party at the house with some friends...

Okay.... I think that sums everything up. Nothing too excited has been happening over here in the Holmes Home.

Now back to your regular scheduled programming...
